Today (Monday 5th of February) Francesc, Raffaele (the best guide) and me, Tomas, went to Pascoli school to start our orienteering project in English. Visited two classes were we had the 1st lesson about orienteering.
First step was to found out do kids nowadays know what orienteering is in general and why people are interested in this sport. Showed some videos, one of them was from previous project also with Pascoli school. Told them some facts and history about orienteering.
What else? We told them what abilities you need to be the best in this sport. Also, what kind of tools you need and how to use them. Told about different maps and what each colour means, different signs which are used in orienteering and how to observe everything.
What is more, we practised a little bit and played ”Sorry, how to find this place?” game. In this game I told where are we in the map of New York and told them directions where to go. At the end of the game I asked them at what place they are, some answered correctly, some not, unfortunately, but had a great time 🙂
This week we’ll continue our 1st lesson in other classes and at the 3rd week of February we will start 2nd lesson with the same classes.
Keep following and active to see more!
